Links with other schemas

Children who are interested in going through a boundary often also show an interest in enclosing (see Chapter 6) and enveloping (see Chapter 7). They may want to explore moving into and out of spaces and covering themselves, playing peek-a-boo type games. Jack was engaged in this type of play with the door flap of the tent. We may also notice links with children interested in containing (see Chapter 4), as children post objects into post boxes or shape sorters. Naresh also shows a strong interest in playing with post boxes and putting rings on posts. Children who are fascinated by moving objects or themselves through a boundary might also show an interest in the position of objects (see Chapter 10) or be fascinated by their orientation (see Chapter 9). Georgia was interested in changing direction while moving through the tunnel, which could imply links with an orientation or positioning schema.
